Hailing from Maracaibo, Venezuela, Luis Celis joins the bass section of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra in 2022. Celis holds a bachelor's degree from Berklee College of Music where he studied with Susan Hagen. After his time in Boston, Celis joined the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra/University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music Diversity Fellowship Program and study with Owen Lee. 

Celis has been part of prestigious fellowship programs such as the Tanglewood Music Center, Spoleto Music Festival USA, Curtis Institute Summerfest, the Round Top Festival Institute, and the Bach Institute. Before arriving in the U.S., Celis studied with Elvis Martinez and Maciej Zlotkowski at the Jose Luis Paz Conservatory in Maracaibo. As a versatile musician, Celis was part of the Berklee Global Jazz Institute for a year and also collaborated with contemporary artists like Jacob Collier and Aida Cuevas
